Hi! My name is Andria.
I am first and foremost a child of God. I am also a wife to a wonderful husband and mother to one boy and three girls. We have a hamster, a cat, 3 chickens…and the occasional mouse that finds his way into the house. I am a proud military brat and come from a large family. My plate is always full…because I like it that way. I love to have projects and hobbies. At any given moment I might be cooking, cleaning, writing, reading, crocheting, running, playing with my camera or using my stamps to create more pages in my planner. I have learned to enjoy homemaking a bit more as I have gotten older and my children can contribute a little more. I have a difficult time sitting still. I enjoy being busy at home, for the most part. Although I do make sure to take the time to rest and relax.
My family and I live out in the country. We are very blessed to live on the same land that my husband’s family lives on. My husband and I work together in a factory. We are a blended family. The children live with their father 50% of the time and us 50% of the time. Although we miss the kids when they are with their father, my husband and I have been able to spend quality time together alone. This has been wonderful, but will probably be coming to an end in the next couple years, as we are planning to have a baby at some point (God willing).
Yes, that is me…with blue hair! (actually, it is called midnight blue-black, lol)
I am so glad you are here. Let me explain.
I am one of those women who loves to encourage others, especially other women. In today’s world it seems as if there is plenty of criticism, judgement and insults to go around. Every choice we make, there is someone pointing a finger saying why they believe we are making the wrong decision. I feel that if we as women started encouraging one another and stopped comparing ourselves to others, we would all be able to be a little more comfortable in our own skin. Working mother, stay at home mom, woman with 10 kids, woman with none, natural hippie momma, stiletto wearing mom, c-section birth, water birth mom, corporate woman, blue collar woman, tattooed lady, woman who doesn’t have her ears pierced yet…I want you to know…whoever you are, there is no judgement here.
As women, so many of us get into the comparison trap, and the media is right there cheering us on to feel horrible about ourselves. How often are we bombarded with messages from magazines, television and social media that we do not measure up?
And then, there are some of us who have some very negative and discouraging people in our lives. If you are one of those women who does not have someone in your corner, I am so sorry. I have gone through times in my life where I have felt this way. Although this is no longer the case for me, I want you to know that I have been there and my heart breaks for you. I know how painful this can be. You are the one that I am most excited to have here, reading this blog.
Her Encouraging Heart is for you.
For several years now I have felt that I have a voice that needs to be heard, by someone but I did not know who. After spending a lot of time thinking, praying and searching, I feel that I have found the voice and know who needs to hear it.
Of course I would love to be heard by any woman willing to sit down at her computer and take the time to read what I have written. But the broken, discouraged woman who just needs someone in her corner, let me encourage you. And remember, God knows your heart and your hurts and He can bring you a bright and beautiful morning after a painfully dark night. I pray you feel His arms wrapped around you.
